Arctic Weekend is a gathering for those who live for snow — and the stories born in it.
Held at Ruka ski resort, the festival is a perfect way to start a new season while celebrating the soul of skiing and snowboarding through a variety of films, talks, and shared experiences alike. No matter your experience or style, come ride Ruka’s fresh slopes and park, test new gear, and enjoy epic films and talks.

Arctic Weekend is turning up the focus even more on films and the people behind them — from all corners of skiing and snowboarding, while highlighting riders and creators from the North. Whether it’s big freeride missions, creative park edits, DIY stories, or time spent outdoors chasing snow, we’re here to celebrate every style and every perspective.

ARCTIC WEEKEND Village


Situated at the top station of the Saarua slopes, right next to Base Eat & Heat, the village offers a relaxed and energetic atmosphere. Explore Finland’s largest test center, check out partner booths, and join fun events — all in a relaxed atmosphere that welcomes everyone, whether you're here to ride or just enjoy the good vibes.

BASE EAT & HEAT

BASE is a destination at the top of Saarua slopes in Ruka, where great food, a soothing sauna and outdoor pools meet breathtaking views. ​


During Arctic Weekend, BASE becomes a hub for food lovers, film enthusiasts, and curious minds. Enjoy cozy movie screenings,inspiring talks, and great food moments in panoramic timber restaurant


SKI LODGE PISTE
Piste is located right at the bottom of the Ruka slopes, in the very center of Ruka Village.

During Arctic Weekend, Piste transforms into a lively hub of festival evening activities. The venue hosts film screenings, entertaining bingo nights, and afterparties.

Ruka ski resort is renowned for its excellent skiing and snowboarding opportunities, boasting over 200 days of riding annually.

Arctic Weekend marks the official opening of the winter season 2025–26, with three slopes in Saarua and Ruka Park park ready for the first turns of the season. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy riding sessions and a variety of fun events, kicking off the season in style on Ruka’s famous slopes.


RUKA VILLAGE
Ruka Village is a well-developed and welcoming destination, offering a range of accommodations, restaurants, and shops. Visitors can enjoy comfortable lodging, dine on local and international cuisine, and find everything they need in the village’s convenient stores, making it an ideal place to stay during Arctic Weekend.

We’re now accepting submissions across all categories for our 2025 film program. This open call is part of our commitment to inclusivity and our belief that powerful snow stories come from every corner of the community—

We invite riders, filmmakers, and outdoor storytellers to submit their work and be part of a diverse and inspiring showcase.

  • Human-powered mountain adventures on natural terrain. These films highlight the wild spirit of the backcountry, brought to life by professional riders and passionate filmmakers.

  • Creative tricks and expressive riding in parks, urban spots, and beyond—featuring world-class talent and boundary-pushing cinematography backed by the snow industry.

  • Films from outdoor lovers, influencers, and adventurers that explore snow-covered landscapes, life beyond the resort, and the deep human connection with nature.

  • Grassrootsand independently produced projects that tell raw, personal, or unconventional snow stories. Often self-funded, always full of heart.

    Start by thinking about how your film was made:

    • DIY films are made with small crews, little or no budget, no brand sponsorship, and usually feature non-professional riders. These are passion projects, often filmed with friends using whatever gear you have.

    • Films with professional riders, brand support, bigger budgets, or a full production team likely fit into one of our professional categories:

      • Freeride

      • Freestyle

      • Outdoor

      • Still not sure? That’s okay—we review every submission and can help make sure your film lands in the right category.
